Next week I'll be holding my first book signing in Lexington, at the Kroger Marketplace at Beaumont Centre Drive. I will be signing The Hands of Christ on August 4, from 9 am to 1 pm. If you live in or near Lexington come and see me. Most of the people coming by my table won't know me, so it will be interesting to see how many people will stop to find out what the book is about.
In case you don't know, it addresses two shortcomings I see in the church in America today. One is the failure to teach us how to approach the conflicts between husbands and wives. The church, by and large, doesn't prepare its young men and women how to prevent many of those conflicts, and how to deal with conflicts when they do arise. The second problem is that the church in America is not succeeding in spreading the gospel here at home, in the communities where they exist. As a result, many people do not really know who Jesus is, and what he has done for them.
The Hands of Christ is fiction, but those two issues are the themes you'll find in it. Because it is fiction, it is not an exhaustive treatise on those issues. However, those issues are the subject matter you'll find there. All the characters are fictional. None of them has been created to be like someone I know. None of them is my spokesman; that is, not one is a fictional me. My thoughts are sprinkled among them all. A link to the book is listed in the sidebar.
